👩Youth Training Workshop on Gender Stereotypes and Prevention of Violence Against Women Held in Naogaon.

A Youth Training Workshop and Discussion Session was organized in Naogaon to promote awareness on Gender Stereotypes and the Prevention of Violence Against Women (VAW). The workshop was conducted under the Shomotay Tarunno Project with the goal of encouraging young people to become active advocates for gender equality and safe communities.

Organizer and Implementation

The workshop was implemented by Youth Smart Foundation (YSF), Naogaon under the Shomotay Tarunno Project, with the support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Plan International Bangladesh, and JAAGO Foundation.


Workshop Objectives

The primary objective of the workshop was to raise awareness among young people about gender equality and challenge harmful gender stereotypes that limit equal opportunities for women and men.

Participants received practical training and engaged in discussions on how youth can play a leading role in preventing violence against women and promoting equality within their communities through their own organizations.

The workshop also aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge, leadership, and advocacy skills so they can contribute to building a more inclusive and respectful society.


Chief Guests and Speakers

The event was graced by the following distinguished guests:

  • Ms. Amina Khatun, Deputy Director, Department of Women Affairs, Naogaon.
  • Mr. Mahmud, Additional Deputy Director, Department of Youth Development, Naogaon.
  • Ms. Taslima Ferdous, Founder, Youth Smart Foundation (YSF).

During her speech, Ms. Amina Khatun emphasized the importance of gender equality and highlighted various government initiatives to prevent violence against women. She encouraged young people to take leadership in promoting equality and creating safer communities.

Mr. Mahmud discussed the harmful effects of gender stereotypes and stated:

“Gender stereotypes are invisible barriers that prevent women and men from enjoying equal opportunities. Young people have the power to break these barriers through awareness, dialogue, and positive action.”

Ms. Taslima Ferdous, Founder of Youth Smart Foundation, explained the goals and vision of the project and highlighted the importance of empowering young people with knowledge, leadership, and practical skills to create positive social change.


Participants

The workshop brought together approximately 40 young men and women representing 20 different youth organizations across Naogaon. In addition, other members of Youth Smart Foundation also attended, bringing the total number of participants to 62.

Participants actively engaged in discussions, interactive activities, and group exercises. At the end of the workshop, they pledged to promote gender equality, challenge harmful stereotypes, and work together to prevent violence against women in their communities.
